It's not easy being a man these days. Not only is it hard finding true men to learn from, but our culture seems to actively discourage us from starting the process that will take us from boyhood to manhood in the first place. True and healthy growth hierarchies are rare, media coverage about the positive side of manhood virtually non-existent. Something dramatic happens inside the boy who is at the receiving end of this - he starts to fear his true nature. As he grows older, whenever a boy taps into the vast power of manhood, be it by chance or by conscious effort, he is likely to become afraid and sever the connection, because it is that very power that he has been trained to distrust and contain.

With Masculinity-Movies.com, I aim to revitalize this power in men as well as resurrect the archetypes of the mature man. I intend to do this through the lens of movies, and point those willing in the direction of resources that can take them further on this path of growth and discovery. The Next Step After Feminism

If we want to enable men and women alike to grow into their full potential, it is not enough to focus on individual development and spiritual growth, we also need to address the collective and political dimensions. Currently, the only major political theory about gender issues is feminism. In postmodern societies, feminism tends to focus on women as victims and men as responsible, which is a poor starting point for growth for either sex.

In my writings, I criticize what has gone wrong with feminism, and explore what we need to focus on in order to develop a post-postmodern discourse on gender issues. Read more »
